Downtown Garland Construction Updates

As construction begins on the Downtown Square, the Downtown Development Office would like to share an update on the construction activity you can expect to see within the next month, as of Friday, Dec. 3:

 

  • In mid-November, the initial wave of construction notification letters were distributed and our Field Inspectors spoke with approximately 45 businesses and/or property owners.

  • Earlier this week, construction fencing was installed around the common area in the Downtown Square.

  • Next week, Fifth St. (from State to Main) will close to traffic, and demolition will begin to prepare for underground utility work.

  • Later in December, Main St. (from Fifth to Sixth) will close to traffic, as well as the intersection of Main and Fifth. At this time, only northbound traffic south of Main will be able to turn eastbound onto Main St.

  • Throughout Phase 1, pedestrian access to businesses will remain open along Main St. (The street and on-street parking will be closed.)

  • Throughout the duration of construction, progress updates will be made available on our website.
